Yemen Electric was started in 1970 by Vern Yemen who had been laid off for the winter. A family member asked Vern to wire an old home they had recently purchased and the business grew from that first job.

The business has always a strong agricultural customer base. It could be said that Vern used to "pound the barnyards" and traveled to local farm shows and fairs. In the early 1980s, the customer base expanded to include more industrial, commercial and residential clients.

You can find Yemen Electric vans throughout the Ottawa Valley in new subdivisions, industrial parks, shopping malls and Eastern Ontario farmyards.

Today, Dorothy Yemen, together with shares management responsibilities with three of her sons Brian, Scott and John. With a growing, qualified workforce Yemen Electric is positioned for growth now and in the future.

The Business Comes Full Circle

As things often do in life, this business has come full circle.

Yemen Electric is again re-modernizing barns and homes. Now, the properties belong to the children of Vern's original customers, for whom he first sowed the seeds of his business. Yemen Electric is very proud of these loyal second- and third-generation customers.

The business is a significant service provider to the agricultural, residential, commercial, industrial and solar system markets.
